Though they may seem similar at first glance, there are a number of differences between these models.
We’ve broken down the features of each model and explained them so you can pick the best choice for you.
Traeger Eastwood 22 Vs Pro 22 Vs Lil Tex Elite
|Pellet Hopper Capacity
|#1. Pro 22
Our Best Pick
|572 square inches
|#2. Eastwood 22
|418 square inches
|#3. Lil Tex Elite
|418 square inches
#1. Pro 22
The Pro Series 22 grill was the first Traeger grill to use the stable sawhorse-cart design. In addition, this grill comes with a large and sturdy side lifting bar to help you disperse the grill’s weight evenly when you haul it around. Like the Eastwood, this grill has 6 preset options to choose from.
In fact, the grill is so similar in weight, design, and dimensions that it might look exactly like the Eastwood at a glance. However, the Pro series comes with a few additional upgrades.
Rather than using an Elite Digital Controller, the Pro 22 uses a Pro Digital Controller. This controller has the same temperature-maintaining capacity as the Elite, but it also adds a shutdown feature and an Advanced Grilling Logic system.
The AGL system allows for even more precise cooking because it adjusts the pellets to keep the temperature within 15 F of the desired range at all times.
Another upgrade is the dual probe meat thermometers. You can monitor the temperatures of multiple types of meat as you cook since you have two probes rather than just one.
This makes the grill great for those who want to cook multiple meat cuts or kinds of meat at the same time.
Though the weight and dimensions of this grill are similar to the Eastwood, there’s more overall cooking surface. Unlike the Eastwood, the Pro 22 comes with an extra grill rack.
Combined with the primary surface, that adds up to 572 square inches of total space.
When you’re using the smoke feature, you can set the temperature as low as 180 F. Then when you’re grilling or searing at high temperatures, the grill can soar to reach 450 F.
There’s 20,000 BTUs of total power available.
Thanks to the natural airflow within the grill, you can even bake goods inside by using it as a makeshift oven.
The Pro series makes cleanup easier than with the Eastwood, too. It lets you clean the hopper with the simple press of a button, meaning that you can dump old pellets and ash in seconds.
You can switch over the type of wood you’re using while in the middle of grilling, which means you can infuse your food with even more deep layers of flavor.
#2. Eastwood 22
The Eastwood 22 grill comes with 418 square inches of total grilling space. You can cook enough steaks, burgers, and hot dogs to feed four or five people at a time.
The design comes with all-terrain wheels and a sawhorse chassis that provides increased stability. You can bring the grill over pavement, gravel, dirt, and rock without compromising your even grilling surface.
The grill’s fuel is 100 percent hardwood pellets, which infuse your food with a smoky flavor. There’s a digital controller to maintain the temperature and choose the setting you want.
By setting the temperature with the Digital Elite Controller, the grill will adjust its pellet intake to reach and maintain said temperature for hours.
The grill is made out of sturdy steel. There’s a powder coating finish on it to help seal in the design work and add a layer of protection against wear-and-tear, weather, and any other potential degradations.
The model is designed to be versatile enough to handle most, if not all, of your cooking needs. You can choose from a number of preset settings.
You’re able to barbecue, braise, bake, roast, smoke, and grill the old-fashioned way.
#3. Lil Tex Elite
The 22-inch Lil Tex Elite has 418 total square inches of cooking space. It’s made from powder-coated steel, and the grilling has a porcelain coating to help reduce sticking and make cleanup easier.
Like the Eastwood, this grill uses a Digital Elite Controller. Though it isn’t as advanced as the Pro controller, it can still keep a temperature accurate to within 20 F.
You have 6-in-1 cooking options, just like with the other two models on the list. There are 20,000 BTUs of potential cooking power. Like the other two grills, temperatures can range from 180 F to 450 F.
The grill comes with two sturdy wheels and a digital thermometers. You have the option of buying side shelves to give yourself a space to place your tools and cooked food, though this costs extra.
This model is a little lighter than the other two, clocking in at 98 pounds instead of 103.
However, it doesn’t come with the same stabilizing handle to help disperse weight when you move, so it might be less portable than the other options.
Basic Grill Comparison
Each of the grills has a 6-in-1 cooking capacity, a pellet hopper that can store 18 pounds, and 20,000 BTUs of total power.
Each is a 22-inch model that’s compatible with any of Traeger’s 22-inch accessories.
The designs are very similar in weight and dimensions. But with that said, there are some important differences that will influence your purchasing decision.
Though they’re all 22-inch grills, the Pro 22 has more cooking space than the other two options. In addition to the base 418 square inches of primary space, the Pro has a warming rack that increases the total cooking surface to 572 square inches.
This makes it a great choice if you’re cooking for larger groups of people.
The Pro 22 also has a Pro Digital Controller, which allows for greater precision temperature maintenance than the Elite Controller that the other two use.
By taking 60 temperature readings a minute, the Pro 22 adjusts to keep grill temperature within 15 F of the programmed setting.
The Eastwood and Pro grills both use a sawhorse chassis design that keeps them stable. They also have all-terrain wheels.
A large lifting bar on the side helps people to distribute the grill’s weight evenly as they push it to new places.
Though the Lil Tex Elite is five pounds lighter, it doesn’t have these features, making it less portable.
The Lil Tex Elite has the lowest number of features. It doesn’t have the advanced technology of the Pro, and it doesn’t have the stable and portable design of both other grills.
It’ll do the job well, but if you can spring for one of the others, you might want to.
The Eastwood is a solidly-built, sturdy grill that uses high-quality materials and cooking technology. It’s a good choice if you don’t want the extra expense of the Pro series.
The Pro is the most advanced of all three grills, with increased cooking space and better temperature precision. If you grill a lot, the investment is worth it. But if you don’t, you may not notice much difference between the Pro and the Eastwood.
